Behind the Maison du Vin is the Syndicat Viticole de Margaux, the appellation’s Defence and Management Body (ODG). It works to protect the Margaux name and its terroir, uphold the appellation’s specifications and support the winegrowers in preserving the quality and reputation of its wines.

Yes. Château Margaux welcomes visitors by appointment, from Monday to Friday. Visits should be booked well in advance directly with the estate through its website, as availability is limited. The estate is closed to visitors at weekends, on public holidays, in August and during the harvest.
Most château visits require advance booking. We recommend booking ahead whenever possible. However, the Maison du Vin can also help with last-minute requests, depending on the availability of the estates.
Château Margaux is a specific wine estate within the Margaux appellation and one of the five First Growths classified in 1855. It is the only First Growth of the Margaux appellation. The Margaux appellation is much larger and brings together numerous wine estates and producers across four communes: Arsac, Labarde, Margaux-Cantenac and Soussans.
